Let's Talk

Meet Christopher McAnany, whose passion for out-of-the-box visual and experiential event elements, always delivers a fresh, creative spin on the status quo.

Where else but Washington, D.C., can you tour with lawmakers on Capitol Hill, lunch with a top celebrity chef, dine in the Library of Congress and wake up to coffee and a view of the Washington Monument? Visitors come to D.C. to meet and have access to some of the most unique venues in the world. I love arranging for corporate groups to experience the museums, historic sights and behind-the-scenes work of the government. It’s exhilarating! But what most groups don’t expect is that Washington, D.C., is a true culinary destination. From Bravo’s Top Chef contestants to James Beard Award winners, celebrity chefs are well represented in D.C. In addition, the burger and food truck craze has hit the city, like the addition of the popular Shake Shack on DuPont Circle. No wonder Washington, D.C., is called “one of the most exciting restaurant cities on the East Coast” by Travel + Leisure.

Recently, a client wanted to use the American History Museum as the venue for the final night event, but its size would have overwhelmed her small group of 120 attendees. We proposed using it for a “Welcome to Washington” kick-off instead. We held the breakfast event in Flag Hall, the foyer to the newly renovated Star Spangled Banner Exhibit. Breakfast began with the arrival of a U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard troop and a rousing rendition of the National Anthem. Colorful “Old Glory” inspired décor and a beautiful, custom-designed event program, which included a guide to the museum, carried out the patriotic theme in an elegant way. It was an inspiring start to what the client later referred to as their “best meeting yet!”
